another week rolls in and it seems to be easier to handle because of the mid week break in the form of a public holiday. so i'm already planning my late morning sleep in. after which i will of course make my way down to vote. there have been some interesting comments and ideas floating around from friends, colleagues etc about why they choose to vote or not to. some do not feel that their vote will make any difference and others are frankly indifferent. i really do believe that this issue is not somethiing you should have a choice about. one of the fundamentals of a democracy stems from the right to vote. and i think it likely that those citizens who choose apathy over exercising their right to vote, are the foremost spokesmen on democracy. it boils down to this, things are not 100% functioning, sometimes they are not even 70% there and the party you vote for may not win. but the excuses of just being too busy, or being already fed up with the running of the country don't cut it either. i do think that the vote is bigger than all of that. many people lost their loves so we could vote and the younger we are the more years we have to exercise this right.
on other fronts... i wouldn't mind a break back home. just to visit family, a very good friend and to get some good ol durbs back into the bones. at the moment this feels only about 50% home.
today i like: rounding off projects fast
today i dislike: missing friends far away
