listenin to: south africa's news and information leader... safm
this post is going to be a little bit of everything. the cuppa went well and it is going to feel good to deposit all the cash into cuppa's bank account. the most absurd question i got at the event, was a student asking if they could get a discount because they didn't take sugar with their tea... i was so tired i just laughed for fear of hitting the dude. many many thanks to everyone who suppourted our cuppa4cansa.
i went house looking with maria on sunday. yes, even in grahamstown do houses go on show. and we stumbled upon the gem of a house which was so exquisitely furnished and planned. almost every piece of furniture in the house was its own intricately carved story. all i all it was fairly small and yet the owners have done such a great job of re-designing the space, that it looked like a phenomenal place to live in. i left with the sound of 1.5 mil sitting deep in my churning stomach.
i've been listening to a debate on safm this morning about our president's remarks about a woman president. i don't think he actually meant our next president will be a woman. not that this is a bad thing of course. or necessarily a good thing either. because the real issue should lie with whether or not the person chosen in the end is the right person for the job. one of the callers said that a woman president is not good because of the current political situation in sa. what does this mean? also, is our president not allowed his own personal opinion, or should he be so busied with pro statements and speeches written for him by someone else? i'd like to think he too, has his own opinion, whether we hear political mombo jumbo most of the time or not.
