listenin to:sounds of the cue newsroomwe are more or less at the half way point of festival. working right through the weekend creates this numb kind of feeling. but i have
watched some awsome shows. saturday night at "the trading store" was superb. the kgb band and mafikizolo were on the line-up and they delivered to the max. it was mind-blowing to be able to just sit back and take a listen to some wonderful local talent. of course the sitting down didn't last for very long-to put it mildly, mafikizolo were banging. they had the entire sit down audience on their feet in next to no time. what really impressed me was the way they took their original dance tracks and tuned it down and jazzed it up, for the festival line-up. their band and backing singers were superb as well. i've watched them live twice now, and they blew me away. on another note, last night i went to watch the most amazing show. i'm sure many of you will know them from their show, by the same name, on sabc 2. corne and twakkie were hilariously original, quite manic and again, money well spent.the exhibitions at this year's festival look stylish and well thought out as well. the main exhibition by the standard bank visual artist winner, churchill madikida was at first glance very conceptual and unsettlingly eery. i gained a better understanding of the ideas behind his exhibition, after reading his review. with so much to see, hear and do, it makes it almost impossible not to walk away from each show wanting to do more, and even more impossible to do justice to the great shows on offer. oh well, another fes then, when i'm not working and i come to just be.
today i like: a beautiful cue newspaper
today i dislike: my body aches
