what is happening in sri lanka?!? who are these tamil tigers and why are they so angry? i mean i know the basic story but i still have some questions like why do they want a separate state called the tamil ealam, how is this minority wreaking havoc for the masses and how did they take on this militia outlook? the tamil minority feels that they have been made to act this way by the sinhala bhuddist led government. and so the liberation tigers of tamil eelam (ltte) are fighting for a separate homeland for minority tamils.. in 1983, after an attack on a northern sri lankan military base, the government reacted which resulted in the death of approx. 3000 tamils. the tt's are also citing various cases of prejudice and discrimination in places such as uni entrances and government positions. these are just some of the facts.

i don't know everything there is to know about this but i do know:
1. no matter what the issue, violent reaction is fatally foolish and destructive
2. innocent children are being killed and displaced, both tamil and sinhalese
3. militia groups lend to stereotypes for people out of sri lanka as well

serbia, china, rwanda, sudan, lebanon and now sri lanka, have we not learnt anything from the unfortunate famines, genocides and civil war attrocities? no matter how disadvantaged the tt's feel they have been, it does not provide a group with the right to wrecklessly take lives. the ends does not justify the means.
