ok, so i know i haven't blooged in a while but what better comeback than with the story of a comeback. i know i'm probably counting my chickens before they have hatched and all that, but i'm sure we have some good news coming. 3 days ago rahul dravid said that india were on the verge of making history. just over a week ago ganguly returned with only shadows of the debacle that has followed him of late. and 3 weeks ago india lost horrifically infront of a crowd reminiscent of playing at home in india. if we pull this off, it would be as if we have won the world cup. true indian fans, we feel our celebrations and our losses in extremes.
yesterday's play was superb to watch. apart from the fact that the pitch was completely contrary to any 5 day pitch i have seen, it made for some superb play. i enjoyed just about every aspect of it, but some things stood out:
- the immaculate field settings
- the grit of laxman and prince to stand firm on a difficult wicket
- the exuberance and aggression of youth, sreesanth was fantastic
- the glory of a comeback in ganguly and laxman
- seeing some passion back in our bones again
- a true captain in the way dravid managed his team and calmed his bowlers
yet again, we have been under estimated in the worst possible manner by a man that just managed to shave 10 runs in the last innings. hows about a dropping graham? i am praying we are able to finish off the job and that by the end of today i will be able to say, we outplayed the south africans. we beat them with their own tactics of pace. i wonder what it would feel like to win the cup, if it's any better than this, i may need a sedative.
today i like: in a week, i'll be home... and go india!
today i dislike: lots of work
