laurie recently directed me to a new website she had come across. http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com/ is a site that hosts secrets. people post secrets in postcard like formats. so the site loaded up and as laurie stood behind me we began to read. we began to read what people had posted as secrets. pretty ironic hey. there were different kinds of thoughts, some scary, others hillariously funny and most really sad. so i began to think that if these were meant to be someone's secrets, then why were they being posted here for the world to see. but it was painfully obvious. these were secrets... and most of the time just secrets that were being kept from one person in particular. sons talking to mothers and fathers, husbands to wives, abuse victims to their abusers and the heart broken to their life shatterers, best friend to best friend.
and really, i suspect we are all guilty of doing exactly that sometimes- keeping a secret from the person who actually needs to and should hear it the most.the just of the matter is that a secret is no longer purely, this huge massive thing. secrets do not have to be the way we viewed them as children. and honestly they rarely are, the older you get. and sometimes i guess the thought of the words going out your mind and onto their shoulders is daunting and very scary. sure, most who read this will say nope i dont like keeping secrets, it isn't healthy. yes, i think we all know that. but sometimes it's not that easy i think. so we all keep practising and hoping we get better at just telling people what we need to. better out than in... isn't that what they say?
today i like- calmness and ideas
today i dislike- unnecessary worry
