so, i have to date, been faithful to some of the "goals" i set for myself at the start of this year. no they are most certainly not new year's resolutions. bleugh. that whole idea never quite settled with me. so tonight i turned to one of my favourite authors for inspiration and some direction- arundhati roy. she speaks about her use of free writing and her trust in the first uncensored version of pen to paper. she goes on to speak about the first book her mother gave her as a child, about free writing and the manner in which you are "encouraged to write fearlessly". and that is precisely what free writing advocates- write... just write without censoring your thoughts... at least create this first version through free writing. edit later but get it all out without stopping.
the whole idea of writing fearlessly is a powerful one and especially because writing is often so much a part of the person who has written it all down. so for me; to write fearlessly also means to live fearlessly, hope, love and trust fearlessly too. it is sort of like this intricately carved circle. the minute you take one curve away- the circle loses its shape.
